Service Overview

A phone interview with a candidate's previous landlord or property manager, conducted by a verification agent to confirm rental history and tenancy behaviour.

What's checked? 

Whether the individual rented or occupied the property, along with length of occupancy, payment reliability, and general tenant conduct. References may also be asked whether the property was left in good condition and whether they would rent to the individual again.

How does it work?

Information is obtained directly from the landlord, property manager, or housing administrator, using a structured set of questions to ensure consistency and fairness. The check is conducted with the candidate's consent.

Once the candidate provides their references, up to 4 contact attempts will be made over the 2 business days following receipt of the completed form from the candidate. These attempts may be made by phone, email, or text message, depending on the contact information provided, and will only take place on business days. If the attempts overlap with a weekend or statutory holiday, the timeline will be adjusted accordingly. 

If the contact information provided is incorrect, or if the reference does not respond or return our call within this timeframe, we will contact the candidate to obtain an alternative reference or additional information. If no response is received following these attempts, the process will be considered complete, and the reference report will be provided to you based on the information available.

Reference results are generated after the initial report, so they typically arrive later than the rest of your results.
